How to make your own wefts by using a sewingmachine and alternatively some Liquid
Gold glue. You need: A paper, preferably checked and not too thin, a sewingmachine with an ordinary needle, synthetic hair and thread to match, LG. 1: Start by marking out how long your weft's going to be on your paper using a pen or pencil. These are hard to cut later, so you have to get it right at once. Also make marks with an interval of about an inch (2cm). This will help you to know when to turn while sewing. |

2: Time to sew! Use the paper as the ground to sew on (pic 2). The red in the pic is hair, the
blue is stitching. Take it very slow and easy. Work with just 1/2 to 1 inch at a time. Start by taking
a little bit of hair and spreading it out over the line you've marked om the paper. The folding of the
hair's suppose to cover the line. Don't use too much hair, it will get folded double later. Sew over
it, following the marked line, back upp, and sew it again. You should run over each part of the weft three times. Then you take
some more hair and continue until the weft is long enough. Footnote: I don't know why I made the text in the pics in swedish but i'll alter it when I get the time =) |

3: The final phase of the sewing. Continue working with just an inch or so at the time.
Fold the hair from one side to the other so you have all the hair on one side of the seam. Be sure not to
rip the hair from the paper. The longer they stick togehter, the easier. Try to pull all the hair in the
same direction, sew three times like before and continue the whole length of the weft. Try to keep the seams
at a distance of about 1 cm. The last seam goes between the first and the second. Finsh an inch at a time, sew it thrice as usual. |

4: Time to take the weft of the paper. Use a needle if needed and be carefull not to rip the hair
from the seams. Pull the seams tighter together. If you're going to glue the weft on you're done. If you're going to use
microrings or another method of securing the weft you need to apply some Liquid Gold to it. Just spread a thin layer on both sides
and let dry overnight. This pic showes the finished result before gluing. |
